Rescued horse saved from slaughter
These pictures begin HorseGal’s own personal story of Princess Paulownia, a 10 yr.old thoroughbred mare who raced for years, left the track, and was destined for a dogfood can before some wonderful ladies acquired her from a slaughter house.

Early picture after her rescue. Right now Princess has the attitude of a Cinderella– she is docile and willing and to our eyes happy at her turn of fate. She seems to trust us people even after all she’s been through. AND she seems sound in spite of cosmetic blemishes that we may never know how she got.

Princess she is called, and someday she may live up to her name in appearance– once she recovers fully from her trials at the hands of humans.
Margie, Princess’ new savior, lets HorseGal visit, ride, and otherwise dote on Princess. This mare replaces a previous horse that HorseGal helped care for, Sam, who passed on last spring.
Follow Princess’ progress in HorseGal’s blogs (future reports will follow):

first of i would like to congratulate you to give a second chance to your horse. she really looks great. i ‘m a french canadian from quebec so excuse me for my english.i write you just to tell you that i am in the same case of you right now. i just bought a thoroughbred that was on the track too for about 1 year. before the race start a horse begin to step in his box and my horse was effraid of this. so he lost an eye. he learn to live whit his andicap and i can tell you that he is really quiet and obedient. after his surgery he been left to himself.so he is really thin. i think that it was a chance for him to be with me at that time.i love him and he is going to be the best horse in the world. good lock to you.
