Acadia carriage roads from cart and horseback
Once again we have enjoyed the beauties of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island in Maine. Gilford and his mom Willy carried us and Gil pulled us in the Meadowbrook cart, for a week of mostly sun and perfect temperatures. On the 3 days of rain, we still managed to get out between showers!
Here are some pix of us and our friends; I will post some scenery pix and movies soon. See lots more scenes of Acadia and horse pictures by searching petArtistWithPeaches on Acadia.

Gilford alongside Bubble Pond on one of the drizzly days. The trail here is narrow, unlike the rest of the carriage roads…

dad drives Gilford, with friend Marl in cart and Ron behind riding their mare CC. (Marl must wear a sun-protection face covering.)

Other sightseers on Day Mountain say hi to Gilford.

Fall color was already peeking out in mid-September.

Our friends Ron and Marl drive CC (Crimson Cowgirl) out of Wildwood Stable grounds. Somewhat rare to find a quarterhorse trained to drive– CC is very versatile!

Dad drives Gilford across one of Mr. Rockefeller’s numerous stone bridges on the carriage road.

I am taking picture from inside the cart; Willy mare was being ponied behind the cart, and stepped up to enjoy the view of Somes Sound with dad. On our last driving day, during a long loop trip around Sargeant Mountain. We were out for nearly 5 hours!

Between showers on a drizzly day, atop Day Mountain again. On this day we gave Gilford a lot of cantering practice with dad on him, helping Gil to gain better balance and smooth out his canter a bit. I took most of these pix while riding Willy mom.
