I feel compelled to mention that Baucher actually didn’t do hardly anything that could actually be called dressage, the vast majority of the tricks were gross approximations, but it was entertaining, none the less! I think the move where he holds the front leg out in front would be greatly appreciated by our farrier! I didn’t watch the second video.

Tina, You’re right of course, I wasn’t sure exactly what TO call it… in-hand tricks?

I think if this horse could do all these movments in hand imagine what he cuold do undersaddle.competitive dressage is not all that great for the horse. Just read dressage today, to see what some of the riders are saying. Nuno Oliveria never needed to compete , something for you to chew on. muchas grasias Eric A.

Thank you for your comments! I agree in that I have witnessed many dressage horses who were obviously very unhappy in their work, just like in all other disciplines. I have also seen many who appeared to be not merely content but truly enjoying the movements, and that sort of connection between horse and rider is a thing of beauty. Of course, in-hand work of all kinds is extremely valuable in any horse’s training.
