My good friend C. has a rare and exciting occurrence in her own backyard… there are three albino baby raccoons visiting, and they have three different mothers! She has shared her pix of them…

Baby albino raccoons, each with different mom.
This must be exceedingly rare, what are the chances? Would this happen because there was an albino dad somewhere in the neighborhood?? And (speculating here) if albino is recessive, does that mean that all three mom raccoons are related to the (presumably albino) dad as well?

group shots…

Known as PINKY to his friends!

Coming right up to the door…

and wants to come inside!
The coon families are regular visitors cleaning up cat food on the patio; they are so tame they have to be deterred from coming into the house!
NOW MY FRIEND TELLS ME THERE ARE EVEN MORE ALBINO COON BABIES!!:
Last night we had two new baby albino raccoons! These are so small they are still just nursing, no solids, and they just followed their mom up the hill when she came to eat. I called my husband to the door so he saw them too, but they were gone in a flash, running back down the hill together.
If I get pics of the 2 new albinos, I will send. Can you believe there are 5????

On a similar note, my same friend sent me these pix of an albino peacock…

How gorgeous is that!!!
And this normal peacock belongs to another friend… Ah, the wonders of mother Nature!

Our friend Kim, who now has Abby (our former Percheron/Morgan mare), puts her in horse shows and gymkhanas with 8 yr. old daughter Morgan riding. The pair were instantly successful in walk/trot classes including pole bending and barrel racing.
You gotta see these pix– so cute!! and imagine tiny Morgan bopping along astride this big mare who used to be our driving horse and now seems to really enjoy her new career! Go Morgan!!

What a smile!
Pictures shown here, from Alstead N.H. 4H Horse Show (June 3), were taken by Kevin Warren and borrowed from his proof site.

a really good one of them trotting through one of the games
Mom Kim says “Abby looks like she’s having fun. Don’t you just love Morgan’s expression on that one where they are trotting. I think that was the keyhole race. We just got a new camera and dad’s been practicing so we’ll get a video clip and some stills next round.”

This caught my ear on NPR… Scotts Miracle-Gro is filing a lawsuit against TerraCycle, a small worm-poop company. Yes that’s right, their product is worm waste to use as natural fertilizer, packaged in used soda bottles. The worms are fed organic garbage.
It’s a cool eco-friendly concept, founded by college students, and Scotts has drawn a lot of attention to the company with their lawsuit. Read about it on sustainableisgood.com … and many other mentions on del.icio.us.
