Albino Raccoons and Peacocks

Posted in: Other interesting stuff

My good friend C. has a rare and exciting occurrence in her own backyard… there are three albino baby raccoons visiting, and they have three different mothers! She has shared her pix of them…

Baby albino raccoons, each with different mom.

This must be exceedingly rare, what are the chances? Would this happen because there was an albino dad somewhere in the neighborhood?? And (speculating here) if albino is recessive, does that mean that all three mom raccoons are related to the (presumably albino) dad as well?

Known as PINKY to his friends!

Coming right up to the door…

and wants to come inside!

The coon families are regular visitors cleaning up cat food on the patio; they are so tame they have to be deterred from coming into the house!

NOW MY FRIEND TELLS ME THERE ARE EVEN MORE ALBINO COON BABIES!!:
Last night we had two new baby albino raccoons! These are so small they are still just nursing, no solids, and they just followed their mom up the hill when she came to eat. I called my husband to the door so he saw them too, but they were gone in a flash, running back down the hill together.

If I get pics of the 2 new albinos, I will send. Can you believe there are 5????
